Set in the heart of the Nine Elms regeneration area on the south bank of the Thames, adjacent to the iconic Battersea Power Station re-development, this high end residential scheme was sold out two years prior to building completion.
The development has a riverfront location offering stunning views along the Thames and across to Chelsea & Westminster. Accordingly, a key feature of the design by architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners is the use of individual balcony space.
On Riverlight 1 & 2, this has been enhanced using glazed louvre windows as a secondary façade to create winter gardens for use all year round.
Specialist ventilation contractor, Adexsi UK chose Fieger FLM single-glazed louvre windows to meet the requirements.
A total of 400 louvre windows were supplied, each comprising 12.76mm single laminated glass blades. The units were specially tailored to the requirements set down by St James, including a combination of a fixed bottom blade and a built-in restricted opening of 100mm for the louvres below 1100mm to comply with Approved Document K of The Building Regulations.
Above 1100mm, the louvres can be fully opened to cater for summer conditions. In addition to limiting the effects of a London winter, the louvre windows also contribute to damping down the intrusion of external noise. All of the units were finished in matt Traffic Black polyester powder paint to match the surrounding facade framework.
