Roofglaze is delighted to confirm that we have secured another major contract for the provision of premium quality rooflights and roof glazing systems, this time for the impressive new BBC Cymru Wales HQ in the centre of Cardiff.
Selected by main contractor ISG plc, Roofglaze will be implementing the leading-edge designs of esteemed architects Foster + Partners for this new £120m development.
The contract involves the design, manufacture and installation of over 700m² of complex and highly bespoke roof glazing constructed from the Schüco FW 80+ system.
The final design of the roof glazing system has been developed by Roofglaze and our Technical Partners Schüco, to achieve the project specific requirements of the spectacular Foster + Partners design, which includes bespoke transom profiles spanning 4.5m between the underlying feature steel beams.

From the render above, it is clear to see that the roof glazing to the central atrium is a key feature of the building’s design, allowing daylight directly into the heart of the building.
The entire development is due to be completed towards the end of 2018, with BBC Cymru Wales moving in to their new Cardiff home in early 2019. We very much look forward to seeing the finished building being put to good use.
Roofglaze Secures Westgate Shopping Centre Redevelopment
We have also secured another large project in recent weeks, having been selected by Laing O’Rourke to fulfil the roof glazing requirements for the new Westgate Shopping Centre in Oxford.
