SPRA-a dynamic membership organisation working hard for the Single Ply Roofing Sector

Latest News Thu, Oct 26, 2017 9:35 AM

Established in 1988, the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) is the UK standard on single ply. The trade association is focused on the promotion of single ply roofing systems and ensuring the highest standards of products and application to ensure the long-term sustainability of the sector.

This year, SPRA has re-branded and created a new website which has been welcomed by our members and admired by industry.

As a proactive trade association, SPRA harnesses the expertise, knowledge and support of its members to address industry challenges. Recently, SPRA published new Guidance including a Toolbox Talk on Damage Protection following concerns that not enough was being done to help the supply chain to ensure the integrity of single ply systems. In the last two years SPRA has responded to a number of issues and in addition to undertaking research on sustainability, has also published new Homeowner Guidance, a revised edition of its valuable Design Guide, and other guidance documents, all of which are freely accessible through our website.

Its membership is made up of roofing contractors, distributors, suppliers and manufacturers. SPRA promotes employment and training opportunities and has developed a career path for single ply installers which attract grants from CITB. This also includes the creation of a new online Training and Assessment module which tests knowledge and provides a certificate of achievement for successful trainees.

The SPRA Awards grow year on year. There are always stunning projects to admire, and the Awards is a great way of highlighting the flexibility and adaptability of single ply membranes in a wide range of roofing situations. Awards are presented at the SPRA Annual Conference held in June each year. Conference is open to members and non-members, but our Annual Golf Day is a members’ treat and hotly contested!

SPRA provides CPD training for architects and other specifiers, so if you would like to learn more about single ply or SPRA membership, please contact us or come and see us on stand G7 at the RCI show, we’re here to help!
