Concord, the architectural lighting specialist and part of the Feilo Sylvania group, has helped Kenwick Park Hotel and Spa create a relaxing and inviting experience for guests in its new leisure facilities.
Kenwick Park Hotel and Spa is situated in the Lincolnshire countryside an idyllic location offering beautiful views and tranquillity. In 2014, the Kenwick Park leisure facilities were completely destroyed by a fire and had to be demolished. Just three months later a £4.5 million project began to build a new state-of-the-art complex. The new ClubSpa is the ultimate relaxation venue with facilities including a 20 metre indoor swimming pool, Poolside Thermal Spa Suite, two exercise studios, a gymnasium as well as a members’ lounge, dining area, family friendly changing facilities and reception / office areas.
Undertaking the M&E design and energy assessment for the project was Nottinghamshire based M&E Specialists, EP Consulting. In all aspects of the design, the owners of the hotel wanted to create an exclusive spa experience whilst ensuring all relevant lighting standards were met, both general and emergency to ensure the safety of its users.

It plays a crucial role in engineering customers’ experiences of a hotel, restaurant, and club or bar; in this case the new ClubSpa. Concord’s broad range of flexible and energy-efficient solutions brings vitality to the space and enables staff and has allowed the lighting to be tailored to the individual spaces.”
The lighting had to be designed to meet minimum illumination levels whilst ensuring that areas of relaxation or treatment were subtly lit to achieve the right mood to create that spa experience.This was achieved by specifying products suitable for a specific area or application. As such a variety of Concord luminaires along with other products from the Feilo Sylvania group were selected for the project.
Concord Myriad round accent downlights have been installed in general areas of the leisure centre as well as in changing rooms while Concord Myriad square accent downlights have been installed in the treatment rooms. The Myriad Pendant fixtures feature around the reception desk to provide a warm and stylish first impression to visitors. The Myriad range of LED accent downlights and pendants provide high output and high efficiency and with a long life of 50,000 hours they are very low maintenance. The energy efficient light source has a far superior luminous flux per watt than existing Low Voltage Halogen lamps and is IR/UV free and without heat radiation.
Concord Ascent 150 downlights feature in the gym and Lumiance InVerto luminaires have been installed to highlight the features in the reception area. EP Consulting also selected Sylvania Sylproof Superia LED luminaires for the plant rooms as well as Route LED emergency lighting and SylSafe emergency exit signs throughout the building.
