SpecifiedBy, the UK’s leading web portal dedicated to assisting architects and specifiers to find the best building products for their projects, has announced a ground-breaking partnership with the British Board of Agrément (BBA)
The move, which launches in February, will allow registered SpecifiedBy users to search specifically for BBA-approved products and have details of new BBA-approved building systems and services delivered direct to their ‘Discover’ home page.
The SpecifiedBy website will carry a page dedicated to the BBA, explaining product approval and its benefits plus linking users direct to the BBA website. In addition a filter on relevant product categories and searches will allow users to view only products with BBA Certification.
Richard Beale, BBA Commercial Director, said: “This partnership will allow architects and specifiers to quickly and easily pull up details of construction products certified by the BBA and keep them up-to-date with the latest products to gain our internationally recognised accreditation.
“BBA certification is a mark of regulatory compliance, quality, safety and reliability, delivering a one-stop-shop solution for architects and specifiers wishing to satisfy each of these elements. All the information and assurances they require are collated into one source of information, which is now easily located via the SpecifiedBy website.”
SpecifiedBy was launched in late 2014 by Darren Lester, an architectural technologist frustrated by the amount of time it took to gather product information. He said: “Architects and specifiers can waste huge amounts of time simply searching for the information they need to make informed decisions. SpecifiedBy simplifies and speeds up that process, allowing these professionals to compare and price products and materials more efficiently.
“At our core is a commitment to ensuring users can find the best construction products for their projects, based on technical performance. The BBA is at the forefront of driving construction product quality and innovation, so it feels like a natural fit. By making architects and specifiers more aware of BBA certifications, and the products which have gone through its rigorous testing processes, we hope we will be doing our bit in maintaining and pushing the standards of design and construction within the UK even higher.”
The British Board of Agrément was formed in 1966 and offers certification, test services and installer approval to manufacturers of construction products and systems worldwide. It is also the UK's leading authority on the assessment of insulation products and installation techniques.
SpecifiedBy has around 20,000 registered users and receives more than 50,000 visitors per month who use the site to search and compare some 50,000 products from more than 1,500 companies.
