Silverstone University Technical College is right in the heart of one of the world’s most famous motor racing circuits. This stunning new facility is a centre of excellence for pupils to study and the client required a first class finish to match the aspirations of the project. The flooring contractor, CD Flooring Installations Limited turned to UZIN because minimising risk was essential on such a prestigious project which involved installing several different types of floor coverings. UZIN’s rapid systems also enabled the flooring work to be streamlined. Across the first and second floors, for example, UZIN PE 630 primer and UZIN NC 175 fibre-reinforced smoothing compound were used to avoid the use of plywood and therefore expedite the installation.
Various floor coverings were installed using different UZIN adhesives. 2000 m² of safety flooring was installed across several areas using UZIN KE 2428 multi-purpose adhesive. 2400 m² of carpet tiles were also installed using UZIN U2100 tackifier. Silverstone UTC opened on time and the new flooring was remarkable, contributing to the vibrant and creative environment. The building won the ‘Project of the year for the East Midlands’ in an awards ceremony held by The Chartered Institute of Building.
