Just a few months after bespoke modular construction specialists Elite Systems installed a temporary pre-fabricated classroom at Little Waltham Primary School, Essex, the company was tasked with converting the unit into a permanent structure.
Elite Systems had previously manufactured, fitted out and delivered a temporary classroom to the school in 2016, completing the work on-site in just one day.
But when increased pupil numbers meant the school needed a permanent solution, Elite’s team returned to the project to install attractive new timber cladding in line with Essex County Council’s planning requirement.
With access restrictions ruling out a return to the factory, the off-site building manufacturer installed the cladding on-site to ensure a fast turnaround and keep disruption to a minimum.
With the clever installation of timber cladding, Elite Systems successfully converted a temporary classroom into a permanent modular solution which was in keeping with the surrounding landscape.
Unlike traditional building projects, off-site construction typically requires just a few weeks on site - around 75 per cent of the building is manufactured in Elite Systems’ specialist factory, while the company undertakes groundworks on-site. Once on-site, Elite’s installation team connects the building to utilities and, if required, finishes the internal decoration.
