ACO Water
Management will be discussing its urban and rural regeneration expertise at
Regen 2018. The event focuses on the reclamation of urban sites and the
optimisation value of green and public spaces.
Held at St George’s Hall, Liverpool, across the 7th – 8th November, the ACO team will be on hand to support visitors in their enquiries on stand, A9. The team will be available to discuss the comprehensive design support and service tools offered by ACO, as well as its professional development programme.
Water Management is an essential part of the planning for sites that are to be regenerated. If sufficient pollution or contamination were to occur, not only would it add significant cost to the remediation process, but it could threaten the suitability of land for redevelopment. According to the Environment Agency’s Guiding Principles for Land Contamination (GPLC2), successful plans must be able to evidence a disruption between the potential source of contamination, the pathway and the receptor.
In recent years, ACO has provided its water management solutions for a number of regeneration projects, such as Buckshaw Village, Oxford railway station and Titanic Belfast, one of the world’s largest urban-waterfront regeneration projects. The surface water management solution surrounding the Titanic Belfast Museum site needed to quickly convey water and cope with footfall from many visitors, as well as be aesthetically pleasing. ACO’s Heelguard™ gratings, fitted to MultiDrain MD channels, were installed around the plaza to protect pedestrians, and sloping invert channels were used to efficiently convey water out into the river Lagan.
Mark Halsall, Regional Sales Engineer at ACO, commented: “As leaders in the field of water management, ACO has provided solutions for many brownfield sites and regeneration projects. We’re looking forward to Regen 2018, and meeting attendees to discuss projects and the water management solutions for them.”
ACO is a world leader in the design, development and implementation of sustainable water management systems. Its full range of application specific drainage products and services provides architects, specifiers and engineers with a complete package of integrated systems, suitable for use across the entire spectrum of civil engineering projects.
