As part of the expansion of a primary school in West London, the installation of Mardome rooflights from Brett Martin will not only bring the best quality daylight into the school but also reduce energy demands, improve the school environment and have a positive impact on student welfare.
To achieve maximum daylight in the reception, library and teaching areas, ten Mardome Trade rooflights, eight measuring 1,050mm x 1,050mm and two measuring 1,500mm x 1,050mm were specified by architects Jestico + Whiles. The specification included quadruple skin polycarbonate glazing for maximum thermal performance.
With thermal performance now crucial at every project, the quadruple skin Mardome Trades installed at Castlebar School exceeded the requirements of Part L with a centre pane U-value of 1.4 W/m2K and a Ud -value below 1.2 W/m2K which help to achieve energy efficiency and performance targets in line with stringent building regulations. Specified in clear Marlon FS polycarbonate glazing for maximum daylight, the dome rooflights flood the school with high quality natural light.
Installed by specialist contractor Topek Southern Ltd, the Mardome rooflights feature a low rise glazing profile, energy efficient design and will transform the internal environment of the building. Supplied with the standard Mardome kerb and compatible for use with all the major flat roofing manufacturers’ systems, they were ideal for use with the single ply roofing membrane used at Castlebar School.
The rooflights were also supplied with acoustic packs to restrict noise from the local residential area and other school buildings.
