Returning to a SureSet resin bound paving installation after 15 years

With Sustainable Urban Drainage (SUDs) systems becoming more commonly specified and required within new developments the options for permeable paving are ever increasing. One of the most popular permeable paving products is resin bound paving due to its smooth, seamless, low maintenance and hard wearing finish making it perfect for all commercial and domestic paving applications.

SureSet have been manufacturing and installing resin bound paving for over 22 years and with the years of research and testing they are able to offer a market leading 21 year guarantee on their products.

In February 2019 the SureSet installation team returned to a commercial project completed on an outdoor theatre stage installed 15 years ago to inspect, clean and maintain the resin bound paving, which included natural aggregates and Spectrum coloured recycled glass.

Despite the years of use from the theatre itself and neighboring college students and productions the SureSet team found no loose stone, no colour change, no cracking or any signs of damage so were more than happy to continue with the cleaning of the paving.

A specialist ‘Rotor Cleanse’ machine was first used to loosen the years of dirt from the paving and it was then further rinsed off with a house hold pressure washer. This process was repeated in multiple directions to bring the paving back to life and return the installation to its former glory. The SureSet guarantee also covers against UV degradation and workmanship defects which would have been made apparent during the cleaning process, but again the installation showed no signs of either.
