The last couple of years have continued to demonstrate that demand for office space in Central London is strong from both occupiers and investors. Many leading global companies are now increasingly focusing on the refurbishment of their existing working spaces, rather than hunt for larger or more suitable premises.
The BMSL Group has established itself as one of the leading Recruitment Agencies in the Building Services, Construction, Rail and Engineering industries throughout the UK. The recent refurbishment of its London Headquarters office in the St Pauls area of London required the highest standards in terms of design and world class products. Delivering an outcome that would be both visually stunning and practical for a very busy office environment was a challenge well-met by Cardiff-based Trefoil Interiors, who turned to international flooring specialist Gerflor to supply 300m2 of its high performing Saga2 flooring.
Established in 2014 under the name EvaBuild Interiors Ltd, Trefoil Interiors specialise in complete interior fit-out projects, with extensive experience in modular, traditional construction, dilapidations, design, 3D visualising, refurbishment, furniture and project management at both local and national levels. In 2019, EvaBuild Interiors Ltd evolved into Trefoil Interiors with a new look and new name that better reflected the diverse community that they serve.
David Gilbert, Head of Design at Trefoil Interiors commenting on the BMSL project said, “BMSL were aware of our skills set and approached us to tender for the design and fitout of their premises. We collaborated with BMSL to transform their existing premises whilst keeping them operative as much as possible. This was achieved by carrying out the works during weekends and evenings with minor decoration work during the day to keep disruption to a minimum.”
David Gilbert went on to add, “as a design and fit-out company we were set the task of not only developing a creative design that represented their company but also a realistic concept that could be delivered to meet their specific budget. We recommended the installation of Gerflors’ Saga2 vinyl flooring throughout the working space areas which enabled us to create the look the client so much desired, and it also allowed us to work on site and build the furniture simultaneously. The designs chosen were Mozaic Blue and Rough Textile Grey for a striking effect”.
The Saga² collection from Gerflor is a fast track loose lay luxury vinyl tile that provides the durability of a compact tile with the comfort of an acoustic tile. With a wide range of stylish designs available it is suitable for medium traffic areas including offices, boutiques, public areas as well as other administrative areas. The vinyl loose lay tile overcomes the difficulty of many irregular sub-floors and prevents their indentations transferring to the surface.
Designed for environments where high resistance to traffic is needed, Saga² has a 0.70 mm wear layer and comes with the innovative Protecsol® surface treatment which ensures no polish or wax for the entire lifetime of the product. It minimises dust allergies and is also easy to clean and maintain.
Saga² is an eco-responsible range, it is 100% recyclable and offers outstanding technical performance:- it has a R10 slip resistance rating conforming with the European slip resistance standard (DIN 51130) and a Group T wear rating which has compliance with EN 652.
On installation of the Gerflor Saga2 flooring David Gilbert said, “the Saga2 flooring was quick and easy to lay, which was a key requirement as the floor had to be workable by the next day before staff arrived, and the landlord wanted access to the raised floor at all times.” He also added, “our client is delighted with the Gerflor solution. The flooring is very easy to maintain and has an excellent acoustic dB rating thanks to the backing being made of cork.”
Saga² offers a host of benefits that tell a strong story in terms of supporting specification decisions. Saga² is easy and quick to install, as well as removable as it’s a loose lay tile with tackifier. It’s adapted for raised panels and is extremely durable delivering a 4.6mm thickness with a reinforced calendared inner layer. Saga² comes as a convenient 500.5mm x 500.5mm tile size which also provides ease of fitting. The cork underlayer brings sound impact insulation (15dB) and increased levels of comfort which helps to enhance the ‘feelgood factor’ by reinforcing the feelings of both luxury and wellbeing.
David Gilbert ended by saying, “the Saga2 flooring from Gerflor has some very interesting textures and designs and we would have no hesitation in specifying Gerflor products again.”
