The Spanish slate company took home the award for Best Cladding System at the virtual Build It Awards ceremony. CUPA PIZARRAS’ CUPACLAD Natural Slate Rainscreen Cladding system was recognised for its durability, sustainability, timeless design and straightforward installation.
The annual event recognises all aspects of self-build and renovation, including completed projects, services and suppliers. The ceremony brings together architects and manufacturers as well as key industry figures in the self-build sector to award those who have gone above and beyond in terms of innovation and excellence.
CUPACLAD is a natural slate rainscreen cladding system that combines traceable, handcrafted natural slates from CUPA PIZARRAS’ own Spanish quarries with stainless steel fixings and aluminium alloy brackets. To back up its submission, CUPA PIZARRAS highlighted the success of a recent CUPACLAD installation at Costa Street in Peckham. CUPACLAD 101 Logic was specified to clad the upper portion of a new and unusual, leaning residential housing block. A completely natural material, slate provided imperfections and rough edges, which suited the desired aesthetic for the block of houses. In addition, the slate helped to reflect the character of the surrounding, more traditional red brick, slate roofed buildings.
