wedi’s XPS elements are not only 100% waterproof to their core but also have the best BBA accredited vertical loadbearing (133kg/m2) and thermal (0.036 W/mK) properties amongst common foam tilebackers. They are manufactured with 100% green energy and with at least 25% recycled XPS foam material in a completely environmentally friendly process. At the base of the wedi system is its core product the wedi building board. Exemplifying the word versatile, this XPS tilebacker is a true all-rounder:
- its 4mm thick version is perfect for floors
- used in 6mm thickness it creates a completely flush, levelled surface to existing tiles
- 10mm upwards it is perfect for use beneath electric underfloor heating
- its 12.5mm thick version provides a flush transition to existing plasterboards
- from 20mm thickness it is used for uneven wall surfaces
- 30mm upwards can be used to create bathroom furniture such as benches, niches, washstands etc.
- from 50mm it is approved for use as a free standing partition wall
In addition to the standard building board, the wedi system has more to offer. Prefabricated solutions, especially developed for different applications also play their part.
A building board with a pre-integrated vapour barrier, the wedi Vapor 85 building board provides an SD value of 92, making it ideally suited to high chloride environments. It guarantees an all-round protection: not only prevents water damage to the structural envelope of the building and maintains interior humidity levels in steam rooms, but also prevents heat loss and can be directly tiled onto. Due to its vapour retardant properties, the board can assist in protection of steel frames as well.
wedi PreLine building boards feature factory integrated grooves for the easy laying of hot-water pipes for underfloor heating systems. The reinforced surface then simply gets backfilled with flexible cement based tile adhesive and tiling can commence. Available in thicknesses of 30/40/50/60mm, thanks to its excellent thermal properties it reflects the heat back into the room, and as a result it improves underfloor heating systems response time by up to a staggering 70%!
The wedi Sanwell Wall is the perfect solution when looking for a ready-to-fit partition wall with integrated storage. Thanks to its 100mm thickness, this robust element includes a convenient niche and is available in two widths: 900 or 1200mm. With both the wall dimension as well as the niche dimension being customisable it truly offers a practical and straightforward solution for segregating different areas of the bathroom.
Quality, reliability, functionality and design paired with a straightforward, safe and quick installation form the basis of wedi Fundo shower systems. Whether a conventional shower element or a complete system with integrated drainage with either classic point or elegant linear drainage – the right flush-to-floor shower element can be found in the Fundo series. Featuring precise integrated slopes and 360˚ dry-fit drain technology, there a 10 designs, 3 different drain locations and numerous sizes to meet the high demand of planners, contractors and installers.

The watertight nature of wedi products is further enhanced by system accessories filling the ‘gaps’ – from Subliner sealing & decoupling membranes through specialist sealing sets to the industry famous wedi 610 for example – providing a systemised sealing solution that wedi is renowned for: the wedi system.
As a perfect complement to wedi building boards, wedi’s Subliner membranes (prefabricated waterproof membrane with a solid material thickness of just 0.5-0.8mm), can be used on existing substrates to waterproof, decouple or both.
The wedi Wall sealing set is a specially tailored set with all necessary components required for the reliable sealing of shower wall surfaces. It contains wedi Subliner Dry, wedi 520, wedi Tools sealing tapes and wedi Tools sealing gaiters.
