Presenting the natural beauty of sustainable and renewable cork, Carioca in the Delivering Nature collection by Granorte brings a colourful new meaning to interior walls.
With 15 colours and two large formats, combined with the natural and unmistakable aesthetic of cork, Carioca uses bold colour and strong graphical lines to produce a unique and captivating wall finish. Created by leading Italian designer Marco Carini, through the strength of a single colour or playful multi-colour palettes the covering lets designers be creative with a material that’s natural, renewable and recycled.
Made with 90% recycled natural cork and with no PVC, softeners, formaldehyde, heavy metals or other hazardous substances, Carioca is an original wall covering that’s more sustainable than manmade surfaces and good for indoor environments. Greenguard Gold certified, it’s proven to be low in chemical emissions.
Each Carioca panel is finished with Aquadur, Granorte’s water-based finish. Enhanced with Microban® antimicrobial treatment to inhibit bacteria growth between cleans, Aquadur gives a durable and low maintenance finish that makes Carioca’s cork construction suitable for commercial and residential use.
“We’re seeing more focus on finding natural and sustainable alternatives for interior finishes and cork is gaining popularity for commercial and residential projects,” says Paulo Rocha, Granorte. “Delivering Nature brings together our most exclusive cork walls and floors, including Carioca, for a collection that brings high aesthetic principles to projects, while fulfilling the need for sustainable products that can endure daily use.”
Carioca is available in 900mm x 300mm and 900mm x 150mm formats with bevelled edges to create its strong graphic lines. With no need for grout, the lightweight wall panel can be adhered to a range of wall substrates. Colours available include mint, bluemoon, dove blue, purple, sunset and terracotta. Samples are available for fast delivery.
Founded in 1972 as a business to find new ways to use waste cork from wine stopper production, family-run Granorte is celebrating its 50th anniversary. With multiple awards and a product catalogue including lighting, sanitary ware and furniture; it continues to discover new applications for cork, one of nature’s most adaptable materials.
