Celebrating success with the CABE Built Environment Awards

The construction industry around the world is changing, evolving, and adapting.

The world is demanding more from the sector - better quality buildings, better quality standards, and better competence from industry professionals.

This shift in the sector is dramatically altering the dynamics of how we work, but it is extremely apparent that change is, and needs, to happen. Positive change has already begun, but it is important that this is recognised and disseminated throughout the built environment.

Technological advances are being made, stable renewable energy sources are now a realistic option for housebuilders, and the importance of fire and structural safety is at the forefront of every project. Throughout the built environment, opportunities are arising, and progress is being made.

It is important that these initiatives and these professionals are recognised, highlighted, and celebrated for their ingenuity. With these changes upon us, we must remember to acknowledge the positives. And it is the building engineers, surveyors, designers, and construction professionals that will lead the way forward and facilitate this change. So, it is vital that they have a chance to showcase exactly what they can do, but not only that, to also be commended for it.

This is why CABE is delighted to hold the Built Environment Awards.

For many years, the Awards have been a staple in the careers of Building Engineers across the Built Environment. The Built Environment Awards allow professionals to demonstrate their continued competence, innovation, and skill. Our awards are a marker of industry standards, they highlight the very best of professionals, projects and teams working across the life cycle of the construction sector.

The importance that these Awards hold is immense, and we felt it was important to truly highlight this. New for 2023 is the introduction of a new awards category – the Organisation Awards – alongside the traditional Project Awards and Individual Awards.

As well as new categories, CABE is pleased to now offer over 25 different awards to enter. With a much stronger focus on principal areas of the sector where some of the most crucial work is taking place.

New Project Awards include:

Awarded in recognition of outstanding projects that have raised standards in the industry.

• Fire Safety
• Access and Inclusive Design
• Carbon reduction Impact.

Organisation Awards include:

Presented to organisations that have gone above and beyond in ensuring the welfare and development of their teams, whilst encouraging innovation and creative thinking.

• Organisation of the Year
• New Product or Technology
• People Development.

New Individual Awards include:

Recognising Building Engineer’s outstanding contribution to the industry, Individual Awards honour a professional’s recent achievements.

• Apprentice of the Year
• Student of the Year
• Residential Property Surveyor of the Year.

These additions mean that everyone working within the industry, whether that’s a small team, a group of researchers, corporate organisations, building engineer professionals, or students, now have the opportunity to enter.

We continue to keep our awards open to members and non-members in the UK and Overseas so that everybody has the chance to be recognised for their commitment to the sector.

The Built Environment Awards are free to enter, and we are now only three weeks away from the deadline.
