Futurebuild 2024 is set to welcome three of the UK’s biggest drivers on Innovation in the Built Environment.

The Carbon Trust, Innovate UK, and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero will be taking over the innovation focused seminar stage, FutureX Innovation, for a day of content focusing on, and titled FutureX Heat Takeover – Innovation to Decarbonise Heat.

All three organisations will have a large presence in the surrounding exhibition, hosting innovative brands and showcasing projects with cutting-edge solutions to decarbonise heat. This includes projects funded through the government’s £1 billion Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP); its Heat Pump Ready programme, Green Home Finance Accelerator, and more. All projects and attendees will have a chance to network and engage with experts from all three organisations in their Innovation Café.

Mike Pitts, Deputy Challenge Director at Innovate UK, is looking forward to the event. He said: “The Futurebuild audience is highly knowledgeable and reaches across many different sectors critical to a net zero built environment.

“We have partnered this year to showcase the programmes and projects on innovation to decarbonised heat along with our colleagues in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. A full day takeover, in one place, to hear it all!”

Will Rivers, Senior Manager of Heat Decarbonisation at the Carbon Trust, highlighted the importance of developing new and innovative ways of decarbonising heat in homes.

He said: “Decarbonising heat in homes is a significant challenge to reaching Net Zero. Fortunately, the UK is home to some of the world’s most exciting energy innovators, pioneering new solutions to enable us to heat our homes affordably, flexibly, securely and with lower carbon emissions.

“We welcome the opportunity to be a partner in the Futurebuild FutureX Heat Innovation takeover, showcasing some of the latest innovations being supported by UK government funded programmes including Heat Pump Ready and the GHFA.

“We have been working closely with these projects and through their innovations we get a glimpse of the upcoming revolution in low carbon heating. Futurebuild is the perfect place to bring them all together to tell their story.”
