As we move towards a more sustainable future, Bauder is on the path to lowering the embodied carbon of its PIR insulation for flat roof construction.
Bauder is known for their sustainable flat roof solutions that incorporate green, blue, and photovoltaic roofs. With the introduction of BauderECO FF PIR insulation, comprised of 80% biomass and renewable inorganic materials, Bauder is continuously making progress when it comes to sustainability at the product level by adopting the biomass balance approach.
The biomass balance approach enables more sustainable production and manufacturing processes, these include, minimising the consumption of energy and natural resources.
This approach plays a fundamental part in Bauder’s movement towards more innovative and sustainable product development, such as BauderECO FF that migrated away from any dependence on fossil sources without affecting product performance.
The biomass balance approach is a chain of custody model used to track the total amount of renewable plant-based raw-material content through a manufacturing process/supply chain while ensuring an appropriate allocation of this content to the finished product. It allows for the mixing of sustainably sourced materials with non-sustainable materials.
This allows Bauder to allocate alternative bio-based raw materials into existing complex production pathways with limited requirement for additional or modified plant and equipment.
In the production of BauderECO FF, Bauder sources approximately 80% of the feedstock from biomass-balanced renewable biomass and renewable inorganic materials, replacing derivatives obtained from fossil fuel sources, and providing a reduction of embodied CO2.
BauderECO FF provides a suitable alternative for specifiers seeking to achieve sustainability goals and is independently verified and certified under the REDcert² standard.
The insulation is specified within warm roof construction for a heat/conditioned building on both new-build construction and the refurbishment of existing flat roofs. BauderECO FF can currently be used with Bauder’s warm roof waterproofing solutions such as Bauder Total Roof System (BTRS) & Thermofol.
