Raised access floors provide a smart and flexible way to safely route mechanical and electrical services through all kinds of buildings, from office and commercial spaces to hospitals data centres. However, the hidden voids beneath these raised access floors can present both fire and acoustic challenges. They can become unintentional channels for noise to travel under partitions, jeopardising comfort and privacy. Critically, they can also act as hidden pathways for fire and smoke, posing serious risks to safety and compliance if not properly protected.
Siderise RF Cavity Barrier & Firestop Systems offer a single solution for both of these issues, preventing the spread of fire and reducing sound transmission by sealing the voids between raised access floors and floor slabs. RF Firestops are installed beneath fire-rated partitions to maintain compartmentation lines through voids up to 1000mm. These can be supported by RF Cavity Barriers that can be used to subdivide large uninterrupted cavities and is suitable for use in void heights up to 600mm.
Both products feature Siderise Lamella— a stone wool core with vertically oriented fibres laterally compressed and held in place by foil facings. This allows them to maintain a robust fit as a fire and noise barrier even when subjected to continuous movement due to occupancy loads on the floor slab.
Across the range, these systems have been tested for acoustic performance in accordance with BS EN ISO 140-3: 1995, and for use as a plenum liner in air plenum applications. They have also been tested to EN 1366-4: 2006 + A1:2010 for up to 120 minutes fire resistance (integrity and insulation).
