RMD Profiles recently completed the Supply & Design package for a high-specification residential new build in Hampstead Hill Gardens, NW3, one of North London’s most prestigious neighbourhoods. Appointed by main contractor RedSP, our role focused on delivering a precision-engineered composite metal floor decking solution that balanced structural performance with programme efficiency and tight site logistics.
Two suspended concrete slabs were designed using the MetFloor 60 profile in 1.2mm gauge, selected for its excellent spanning capability and lightweight construction. Each slab, 150mm in depth, was detailed to optimise performance and reduce reliance on temporary propping, aligning with SCI P300 and Eurocode guidance.
The package also included 99 linear metres of 0.9mm girth edge trims, detailed for consistent slab depth and concrete containment. Layout drawings were provided with full orientation and propping instructions, helping the site team sequence deck installation in coordination with ongoing steel erection and facade works.
Given the constrained urban location, careful planning of pack placement and delivery was essential. The deck system was supported by DX76-compatible fixings for efficient anchoring, while all service penetrations and voids were incorporated into the drawings pre-fabrication, helping avoid costly site amendments.
MetFloor 60 offered key performance advantages:
- Unpropped spans exceeding 4.5m
- Fire ratings up to 120 minutes
- Reduced concrete volume and slab weight
- Centre-aligned stud zones for superior composite action
RMD Profiles also advised on safety netting, temporary works, and concrete pour sequencing in line with the BCSA Code of Practice. The result: a durable composite floor structure, delivered on time, ready to support high-end finishes above.
