Timber Development UK are delighted to announce a new designTimber webinar series in which leading architects, engineers and timber specialists will deliver in-depth presentations on their Wood Award-nominated timber buildings.
Occurring monthly from February to October in 2027, these free lunchtime talks provide valuable continuous professional development (CPD) learning for designers and specifiers.
The series will showcase an exciting, diverse range of recently completed timber projects in the UK, including a circular cycle hub in Oxford, a six-storey extension to an iconic London theatre, and a first-of-its-kind full-timber supermarket in Harrogate.

Selected from the shortlisted projects of the Wood Awards 2026, the programme will feature The Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities presented by Hopkins Architects, AKT II and Constructional Timber; The Yard OmVed Gardens with Smerin Architects, Lyons O’Neill and Carpenter Oak; Tesco Low-carbon Concept Store with S+SA Architects, B&K Hybrid Solutions and Engenuiti; Backstage at The Old Vic with Haworth Tompkins, Momentum and Buckland Timber; Rammed Earth House by Tuckey Design Studio, Webb Yates and Timber Frame Company; Oxford North Cycle Pavilion by Fletcher Priest Architects, Engenuiti and Xylotek; Metropolis with AHMM, Heyne Tillett Steel and B&K Hybrid Solutions; and Hemp House with Sanchez Benton Architects and Structure Workshop.
The series begins on 10 February with a presentation of the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, where attendees will hear from the architect, structural engineer and timber specialist subcontractor about how solid and glue-laminated European oak has been expertly used to create a world-class new centre for learning, culture and public life at the University of Oxford.
As the series continues, a variety of important timber topics will be explored – including connection design, off-site manufacture, demountable construction and durability – through indepth case studies of buildings ranging from commercial retrofits and super low-carbon homes to high-footfall public spaces.
Providing a behind-the-scenes look at some of the best examples of timber architecture and construction, these free-to-attend CPD talks form an important part of TDUK’s mission: to educate and inspire architects, engineers and built-environment professionals to build better through intelligent timber design.
The designTimber talks are programmed by TDUK, main organizer of the Wood Awards along with the American Hardwood Export Council and Carpenters’ Company.
