Bloomberg’s European Headquarters opened with excitement in October 2017. The marquee building in the heart of London provides new office space for Bloomberg’s 4000 London based employees.
Located between the Bank of England and St Paul’s Cathedral, the building was conceived together by Mike Bloomberg and Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and delivered by Sir Robert McAlpine and Stanhope plc.
High-Performance Building
The completion of this iconic, high specification building marks the culmination of years of planning and development for both Bloomberg, its partners and Kingspan Data & Flooring.
Set in a 3.2-acre site, the development displays architectural innovation, artistic flair and historical references whilst delivering a 98.5% score against the BREEAM sustainability assessment method at the time: the highest design-stage score ever achieved by any major office development.
The installation of 37,000 sq m of Kingspan's RMG600 raised access flooring and 34,000 sq m of Kingspan Attiro real wood engineered floor covering is a landmark project for Kingspan Data & Flooring. The combined systems allow quick and easy access to the steel encapsulated floor panels and the underfloor void.

This landmark building is the culmination of many years of planning and development not only for the Bloomberg organisation and its design and build partners, but also for Kingspan Data & Flooring.
At the time of completion, Bloomberg was the largest single project in our 114-year history. We were approached by Foster + Partners to devise an innovative new system that could combine the aesthetic finish of natural timber with all of the practicality of raised access floors.
Three years later, and over 37,000 sq. m. of RMG600 raised access floors were installed throughout this prestigious development located on a 3.2-acre site between the Bank of England and St Paul’s Cathedral.
Having commenced on site with raised access floors in January 2015, by September the following year we were ready to install our innovative new product, Attiro wood architectural finish, which combines stunning engineered wood with a magnetic backing that allows rapid access to our standard steel encapsulated panels and subsequently the under-floor void.
We installed over 37,000 sq m of Attiro engineered wood flooring throughout the building that features a unique open-plan workspace featuring a central spiral ramp to move between floors.
The building blends architectural innovation and artistic flair with historical references whilst delivering a 98.5% score against the BREEAM sustainability assessment method: at the time, the highest design-stage score ever achieved by any major office development.
