Fire test data for an external wall is only as useful as what was tested. A board tested on its own, an insulation tested on its own and a frame tested on its own tell you three things. But they don’t tell you how the finished wall behaves, which is what really matters.
GypLyner Xternal is a fully tested system. It combines British Gypsum board, Isover insulation and Intrastack light gauge steel framing system (SFS) into one through-the-wall system for multi-storey buildings.
Tested in both directions
The system achieves 60, 90 and 120 minutes of fire resistance to BS EN 1364-1, tested inside to out and outside to in. Both directions matter. This dual-direction testing provides a comprehensive assessment of the wall assembly's fire performance providing greater reassurance in the performance of the complete wall assembly.
Isover Polterm Max Plus, the insulation in the build-up, is Euroclass A1 and BBA-certified. Glasroc X sheathing board is BBA-certified for external façades and tested for weather exposure for up to 12 months, so internal work can start before the façade is completed.
The system also reaches up to Rw 56 dB tested sound insulation. Installation details for junctions, abutments, windows and deflection are available, giving site teams clear drawings to work from.
