Metal Technology's infinitely recyclable products have helped the UK's first "marine academy" to achieve its goal of minimising its carbon footprint while meeting or exceeding all the environmental legislation that relates to an Academy.
The £9.5 million refurbishment and new build at the Academy was carried out by BAM Construction working with architects Stride Treglown.
Metal Technology's fully complementary systems of windows, doors and curtain walling were installed, providing structural integrity, weather performance, thermal enhancement and security across the scheme.
Window treatments were comprehensive, with both 5-20Hi+ Thermally Enhanced Tilt and Turn and System 4-20Hi+ installed. Part of Metal Technology's Thermal range, these windows, in conjunction with the correct glass specification, comply with current and proposed building regulations future thermal requirements.
Metal Technology has developed this range of high performance window and doors using the latest technology and incorporating bespoke thermal gaskets, cellular foams and polyamide thermal isolators which enable architects and designers to achieve impressively low U values.
The aluminium window systems used in this scheme can all achieve an A+ BREEAM rating.
