An essential and attractive new ILP guide to the lighting of landscapes will be formally launched as part of the ILP’s participation in EcoBuild 2014 at London’s Excel Centre from March 4-6.
The launch takes place on Wednesday March 5 from 6.30 to 7.30 pm, in the Lightscene seminar area. There will be a live panel discussion with design team members discussing topics raised in the guide.
The 96-page guide, whose full title is Lighting Landscapes: a Guide to Implementing Successful Lighting within the Public Realm, is aimed at landscape architects, planning authorities, lighting engineers, elected members of local authorities, public consultation bodies, architects, contractors, students of design, architecture and engineering, and last but not least, lighting designers themselves.
The main aim of this beautifully illustrated guide is to inspire those responsible for commissioning and funding all types of public and private space to recognise the numerous benefits of good landscape lighting – and to put such lighting at the centre of the design of new or refurbished urban spaces, parks and gardens.
The guide also spells out how the best landscape lighting can be achieved – the issues to be considered, the necessary steps along the way and the techniques and technologies that can be employed.
A key part of its impact is to convey this essential information through the use of well-photographed, exemplary case studies, which make its lessons come alive for the reader.
Its appeal to broader audiences will succeed through visually stunning imagery and an easy to read and inspiring text.
The guide has already received its plaudits from some influential quarters.
