Sourcing the complete commercial washroom package

Although England and Wales are often perceived to having a wet climate, high population density, especially in London, means there is less water available per person than hot, drier countries such as Egypt or Morocco.

Water conservation is a design measure to establish more efficient use of water in order to reduce loss, use and wastage.

Water resources across much of England and Wales are used intensively and are subject to significant pressures.

Meeting the future demands of society, whilst protecting and improving the environment will be a daunting challenge.

Sustainable management within business is essential to help protect the water environment and to meet current and future demand, especially prevalent during a period where pressure on water usage suggests that we cannot sustain rising consumption, therefore needing to reduce and conserve water.

Furthermore, according to the environmental agency, most office buildings can easily reduce water consumption and their water bills by around 50% by simply introducing small water saving measures.

Nicholls & Clarke (N&C) have developed a series of water saving products and systems to help lower water consumption and energy bills, whilst helping clients to achieve greater sustainability through BREEAM and COSHH ratings for project, through the use of water saving devices, water recycling and water storage areas. All products and solutions are thoroughly tried and tested and approved by the Water Regulators Council (W.R.C.) to ensure confidence in the delivery of sustainable products to clients.

N&C offer clients a broad portfolio of quality products perfect for every application from changing rooms within the leisure industry, to commercial washrooms in shopping centres. Established in 1875, they have the ability to offer invaluable technical expertise and advice for clients at any stage of design for the ultimate in confidence, reliability and service.

Water management within businesses, government organisations and homes is critical in order to reduce water wastage as well as utilty bills, especially during a time when energy prices are soaring. N&C have developed a revolutionary waterless system that combats problems associated with bad odours whilst helping save money by reducing the water consumption by up to an average of 150,000 litres of water per urinal in a commercial, standard flush environment.

The N&C Waterless Key-Valve System is a revolutionary system for use in urinals. It has a unique, odourless trap system that allows a flow into the drain only, preventing a backflow of gases and eliminating odours. It helps businesses to save over 30,000 litres of water (in a controlled environment) per N&C Waterless Key-Valve to help with reduced water consumption. It is fast and easy to install and can be used in over 98% of existing water and waterless urinals. With a minimum usage of 7500 uses per N&C Waterless Key-Valve System, there is aromatic key-ring with a green gel optical indicator to clearly identify when it is ready for renewal.

European public transport operator, Arriva, trialled the N&C waterless urinal technology at their busy North London Depot over a three month period 2013. Some 350 to 400 drivers working in shifts through a 24/7 operational period resulted in heavy water usage through their urinals.

The challenge of conserving water and maintaining a pleasant environment within the normal cleaning regime was met by the N&C Key Valve System. The trial was successfully implemented, adapting existing urinals to receive the system and taking the opportunity to renew the waste drainage in the process. The N&C Key Valve System impressed the team at the depot and was consequently rolled out to a further 13 depots in the region.

Water conservation measures should be used in the early design stages of all new buildings whether it is for residential, industrial, or commercial use. In existing buildings it is still possible to reduce water consumption through new fittings and fixtures such as low flow limiters/dual flush toilets, delayed fill cisterns, proximity sensor taps and waterless urinals.

It has been estimated by the environmental agency that most office buildings can easily reduce water consumption and their water bills by around 50% by simply introducing small water saving measures: Waterless Urinals, Urinal Controls, Use of Grey Water, Use of Grey Water and flow limiters to name a few.
