Soccer school to sharpen skills with indestructible football donation from Dow

Young players at the Steve Beeks’ Soccer School will have the chance to put their endurance skills to the test after a donation of 25 specially-designed training footballs from STYROFOAM insulation manufacturer Dow Building Solutions, which has its UK headquarters in Staines.

The footballs, known as One World Futbols, are made with Dow technology and are designed to be puncture-resistant, ultra-durable and require no pump or needle.  Even if some over eager squad members do manage to puncture the balls, they will not go flat, enabling training to continue.

The Steve Beeks’ Soccer School is for under-11s from the Middlesex and Brent districts, and attracts both boys and girls.  Coached by James Donald and Paul Cross, the team has an illustrious history.  It has won the international Alandia Cup an impressive eight times, the first two under the name Staines Town FC.  Fellow winners have included renowned clubs such as HJK Helsinki, Reipas Lahti and Dynamo Moscow.

“We’ve supported the Steve Beeks’ Soccer School in the past and are really impressed by the commitment of the youngsters as well as the unwavering support given to them by their coaches, parents and guardians,” explained Jayne Law of Dow Building Solutions.  “We’ve seen at first-hand how determined these youngsters are and particularly how much they can gain from the experience of playing at an international level.”

“Those players lucky enough to be chosen for the international tour to the Alandia Cup learn independence and confidence from a very early age, and we’ve even had players selected for the Queen’s Park Rangers, Chelsea and Watford Academy teams,” explained coach James Donald, pictured.  “Beyond that, it’s a great way of encouraging physical exercise, commitment and team spirit!”

Dow Building Solutions is also making a £200 donation towards new kit for the squad.
