The new multi-million Greenvale Leisure Centre has opened to the public, to overwhelming praise from all.
The new local authority leisure centre is arguably the best and largest leisure facility in Northern Ireland and offers a fantastic mix of health, fitness and well-being activities for the whole family.
Facilities include: Northern Ireland’s first 50m swimming pool, plus an exciting new water slide, play pool and a dedicated learner pool for coaching and swimming lessons ; a rejuvenating thermal suite featuring sauna, steam room, 4 heated loungers, 2 snail showers and a feature ice station; a state-of-the-art 100 station fitness suite featuring new 2012 generation Pulse Fitness equipment, that is self-powered and provides you with a personalised entertainment package including Freeview Television, iPod and iPhone compatibility ; a comprehensive virtual trainer software program that educates, records and informs you of the best performance for increased motivation and targeted results; a four court sports hall and separate squash court providing the perfect mix of sports facilities including badminton, football, basket ball and netball; and an exclusive children’s only circuit gym and interactive fitness room featuring dance mats, Active wall and floor.
“Interest in the new leisure centre has been phenomenal, we have had in excess of 7,000 people within 14 days of opening,” commented Robert Byrne Centre Manager for Greenvale Leisure Centre.
“The reactions from the local community, councillors and other stakeholders has been fantastic they are astounded by the quality of the centre and incredible facilities available”.
Magherafelt District Council in partnership with Pulse (the appointed leisure management operator) were committed from the start of the Greenvale Leisure Centre project to provide an exclusive facility at an inclusive price to the community. The partners are delighted that more than 1,600 households equating to over 10,000 adults and children have taken advantage of the £365 per household pre-opening membership deal.
