One of the world's leading cruise liners now has an even classier, after a high profile, multi million pound refit that involved a swift call to action of artificial grass suppliers LazyLawn.
Staff from the Rutland based company, headed by managing director Jim Footitt, joined hundreds of construction workers in a multi-million pounds refit of the Superstar Libra in Singapore, and completed their work in just three days.
Production director Peter Footitt, and staff members Adam Cade, Matt Williams, Rolands Sergis and Lee Joyce completed the LazyLawn team from Rutland. And such was their success at doing the job so quickly and efficiently, clients Star Cruises are already talking about further contracts.
Said LazyLawn's proud marketing director Andy Driver: "It was a fantastic effort, and I am very proud of the team. Such a high profile contract is a massive plus for the work we do, and I am sure thousands of passengers will enjoy the ambience created by our team.
"Star Cruises were refurbishing, and looking for a specialist artificial grass firm that could offer the complete supply and installation package. They wanted a specialist blue artificial grass of which Evergreens UK - the parent company of LazyLawn - were the only company in the whole of Europe with any stock.
"Our team fitted two thousand, two hundred square metres of blue synthetic grass to the upper deck and sun lounge area of the ship.
"The work had to be completed in challenging extremely hot, humid conditions, and was often halted by downpours of monsoon rain. But due to time constraints, the installation team had to knuckle down, and work long through the night, and continuously mopping the deck to ensure the fitting could continue to the highest standards.
"With our huge stock holding and specialist installation team we were able to turn round the project very quickly. The clients were very happy and there are further projects on the horizon - we overcame all the challenges, and it has proved to be a valuable learning experience so we can prosper further in this market."
The Superstar Libra, owned by the Asian Pacific company Star Cruises, is 216 metres in length, 32 metres wide, and weighs over 42,285 tonnes. It is an exclusive, world-class floating resort, and one of the world's most popular cruise liners.
