Groundsman Luke Dodge of Manchester City FC was presented with the IOG Rigby Taylor/Top Green young groundsman of the year award at York Racecourse.
Based at Manchester City's Carrington training ground, Luke is currently studying for an online Foundation Degree in Turf Science – to add to the NVQ Sportsturf Levels 2 and 3 he already holds, plus PA1, 2 and 6 qualifications.
His main role at Carrington is ensuring that all maintenance checks are carried out and accurate records are kept for machinery used on a daily basis. He's also in charge of running and maintaining the ground's undersoil heating system.
Stephen Alderton, Top Green marketing and development director, said: "We are delighted to support these IOG awards which mark the skill and dedication of groundstaff."
Mike Brear, Rigby Taylor regional sales director in the North East, said: "We are very pleased, through the IOG, to support the growing band of young professionals who see that groundsmanship is a worthwhile career in which they can develop and progress."
Top Green produces the 'R' grass seed range and Euroflor amenity flower seed mixes which are distributed through Rigby Taylor in the UK.
