First Class seating from Boss Design

Passengers visiting Virgin Train’s First Class Lounge at London Euston are now greeted by a luxurious and comfortable environment, thanks to a stunning refit and a new range of upholstered seating provided by the Boss Design, Lyndon Design and Komac brands.

Handling over 2,000 passengers daily, it was imperative that the recent refit within the First Class Lounge could provide 60% more seats from the same floor space as well as creating enhanced privacy. Specified by DesignMAD, the area comprises the highly popular Kruze chairs and barstools, and Cega pods from Boss Design, with Hula tub chairs from sister brand Komac that occupy a smaller footprint. A collection of Arthur high backed seating booths and a range of bespoke banquette seating and high back buttoned sofas from sister brand Lyndon Design completes this first class line-up. Both the Cegar pods and bespoke sofas are the signature pieces in this eye-catching line-up.

In addition to making a strong design statement, the seating also had to fulfil the demands of comfort and house care; hence, improved foams, sturdy frames and very high rub-test coverings help maximise ergonomics and comfort as well as providing an aesthetic triumph. The seating was also designed in a range of colour-ways to coincide with the Virgin Train brand identity, with shades of greys, minks and red beautifying the newly remodelled space.

Ian Hunt, Senior Designer at DesignMAD, comments: “Having specified furniture from Boss Design for an earlier fit-out, and having had no call backs, we were confident that their superior design and performance were proven to stand up to the often harsh and demanding rail environment. Our overall design ambition was made easier, as we could also add complementary pieces from the new ranges to the existing family of Boss Design seating.

“The quality of the pieces exceeded the expectation of the client, and by taking the client to Boss Design’s eminent showroom in London to view the new seating, there was no ambiguity as to what the furniture would herald,” adds Ian.

He continues: “The first class lounge is fast becoming a major asset to operators and we believe that the seating is crucial to the quality and comfort of the environment and customer experience.”
