Celebrating the best structural timber innovations

With the industry embracing timber as a key structural solution and exploiting its many benefits, the full potential of this diverse, sustainable solution is now in full form.

The Structural Timber Awards is a celebration of innovation, best practice and expertise in timber technology. Presented at a high profile dinner, the awards are taking place on Tuesday 6 October 2015 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham.

As an inaugural major event in the timber calendar, the awards will attract 500 national business leaders and high profile decision makers from the construction industry. This prestigious event provides the most effective platform for targeting the timber industry and presents the ideal opportunity for professionals to maximise industry exposure and penetrate this economically important market.

The awards comprise 14 different categories - Best Social Housing Project, Best Private Housing Project, Best Education Project, Best Healthcare Project, Best Commercial Project, Best Retail Project, Low Energy Project, Engineer of the Year, Architect of the Year, Client of the Year, Contractor of the Year, Product Innovation Award, Pioneer Award and Project of the Year.

Each of the judges will assess three of the 14 categories on a strict and confidential marking system to establish the Award winners, and any ‘Highly Commended' entries.

The awards are open to public and private organisations with projects located in the UK and the business or project having a strong connection to structural timber.

There are many advertising and sponsorship packages available to support the awards, these include headline sponsorship, individual category sponsorship as well as the opportunity to sponsor the souvenir brochure. Current sponsors of the event include the; Structural Timber Association, Arc, Cellecta, Nordic Construction, Euler Hermes, PEFC, Senior Architectural Systems, SIG SI & Mitek.

Andrew Carpenter, Chair of the judging panel said: "These Awards are set to be the highlight of our construction calendar - already interest has been phenomenal, clearing demonstrating the breadth of innovation in the timber sector. The timing could not be better - taking place during the first UK National Construction Week, when our industry pioneers will be congregating at the NEC."
