Tarkett’s Atelier collection of exclusive engineered oak wood flooring brings a new level of craftsmanship, quality and expression to hospitality and leisure facilities, retailers, and high-end housing projects.
Wood is a living, natural material, temperamental to its climate. The Atelier collection was conceived and produced to deliver the ultimate in wooden floors while adapting and ageing in perfect harmony with indoor climate and lifestyles.
Steve Urwin, Marketing Manager Tarkett, comments: “Quality wood flooring will last a lifetime, but of course it can take more than one lifetime to grow a tree. Our floors are responsibly sourced and manufactured in Europe to the highest standards providing customers with a ‘noble’, high calibre and durable parquet flooring option.”
Offering multi-layer wood flooring with a handcrafted touch, the collection has been constructed to deliver high stability and resistance. The treatment of hardwax oil to protect and preserve the wood results in a beautiful patina that enhances and evolves over time; creating a special character and ambience to singular spaces.
Steve comments: “30 years ago manufacturers varnished wooden floors for wear-resistance; 15 years later and the application of oil was common practice; in the last decade the matte varnish finish has been favoured. Today we see manufacturers at the forefront of the flooring industry applying hardwax oil to wood; the outcome is durable wooden flooring with a silky matte surface as showcased by Tarkett’s Atelier collection.”
Tarkett’s Proteco hardwax oil soaks into wood to provide lustre to flooring that, combined with the wax already applied on the upper surface of the wood, creates one of the strongest surface protections on the market.
The Atelier collection uses a simple 2-lock installation system meaning it is easy to install, and renovate should any heavily worn areas require replacing.
Our sense of wellbeing is intrinsically linked to biophilic design and so interior designers are bringing wood to the inside of hotels, restaurants and leisure centres.
Steve adds: “The Atelier collection has already been specified for several high-end residential projects in London. We’ve also seen interest from upmarket boutiques and store chains looking for hardwearing flooring with design options capable of creating a richer brand experience for the shopper. In this respect, our Heritage and Vintage ranges have been particularly popular since they provide an authentic on-trend rustic wood aesthetic. The Vintage range has even been specifically manufactured with a finish that features saw marks, partial saw marks and indentation marks.”
Today’s market expects surface production with minimal impact on the environment and end products that are fully recyclable. Wooden flooring is often favoured as an eco-friendly choice. The Atelier collection is Cradle to Cradle certified which means it fulfils every aspect of environmental criteria, from the use of sustainable forestry through to the manufacturing process.
The Atelier collection launches this winter.
