Premium timber windows from JELD-WEN were installed in a property on C4's Double Your House for Half the Money, a renovation programme fronted by celebrity property expert Sarah Beeny.
Alex and Ben Smith from Hertfordshire featured in the programme, which helps resourceful homeowners double the size of their property for half the cost of moving house. The premium timber windows and doors manufacturer supplied brand new windows for the family’s extension, improving the look, security and energy efficiency of the property.
In addition to replacing the existing windows, JELD-WEN, a founding member of the Wood Window Alliance, also supplied the patio doors for the project, which helped to make a huge difference to the look and value of the Smiths’ home.
Sarah Beeny is renowned for her expertise in renovating properties and advising homeowners on the latest trends that can enhance a home’s appearance in addition to lowering overall maintenance costs. Having moved into the property last year, the Smiths were keen to build their dream home by creating a stylish look while improving thermal efficiency and cutting down on costly energy bills. In addition, they wanted to lower the mortgage and ensure that the property provided a sound financial investment in the years to come.
The Smiths were passionate about choosing timber windows for the project, selecting their new windows from JELD-WEN’s casement range that offers a variety of contemporary and traditional designs with a higher thermal performance. A slimline Fenton Sliding Patio door was chosen for the extension, which provides the largest possible glazed area and improves light transference to create a greater feeling of space.
Alex Smith said: “We really enjoyed being involved in the show and are thrilled with the results. We only moved into the house a year ago and chose the property because we really wanted our own renovation project. We’ve always had a keen eye on the latest interior styles and love the new trend for timber windows as their versatility means that we could create our own stylish look. Not only is our home now cosier, but the team has completely transformed the look of the property too creating a classic look with a sophisticated finish.”
Lucy Woodhead, communications manager at JELD-WEN, said: “We were so pleased to be chosen as windows supplier for the project. Timber windows are perfect for a renovation like this one as they look fantastic, are guaranteed to last for years and can drastically reduce the cost of your fuel bills. The Smiths have been quick to cotton on to the trend for timber windows and the investment means that the property will reap the rewards for years to come.”
