BIM4 Housing announces nationwide series of conferences

Having established the BIM4Housing work group earlier this year, the BIM Task Force is pleased to announce a series of introductory workshops for the house building industry around the country from October to December this year.

The BIM4 Housing group was set up by BIS - the Department for Business, Innovation and Skill's - under the ‘UK BIM Task Group'. The BIM Task Group has set up several ‘BIM4' groups to develop and advance BIM adoption. Each group, whilst sharing a common raison d'être, focuses its activities on sector specific requirements. BIM4Housing is intended to help drive BIM adoption amongst the new build community and the wider housing world.

David Philp - Head of BIM for the Department of BIS' said: "As most people in the construction industry are probably aware 2014 has been denoted the ‘Year of Level 2 BIM'. We need to bring the housing industry with us, and the BIM4Housing workshops are a great way to kick that off."

Andrew Carpenter - Chairman of BIM 4Housing said ‘The workshop series is intended to introduce the big ideas behind BIM adoption for the housing industry. Through case studies and the testimony of early practitioners, we will begin to spell out the benefits of BIM at all stages in the housing supply and development chain."

The workshops will feature case studies from recent best practice examples in housebuilding and a series of presentations on different aspects of BIM application. Workshops are to be held in Leeds, Bristol, St Albans, Birmingham, London and Edinburgh (dates below). If you are an architect, component manufacturer, house builder, developer or social housing group, these workshops are for you.
