Leading insulation manufacturer Xtratherm joins the Passiefhuis Platform, exhibiting at a major Passive House or Passivhaus symposium in Brussels on 5th October. The symposium is a leading event in the world of passive and energy efficient building, involving construction professionals, policy makers and public organisations. The aim is to stimulate the design of new buildings that meet Passivhaus standards.
As the world’s fastest growing energy performance standard Passivhaus aims to build a house with excellent thermal performance, exceptional air tightness and mechanical ventilation. This minimises the heat used and permits heat to be recovered and re-circulated, reducing the ecological footprint. The number of Passivhaus buildings around the world is estimated at 25,000–30,000, with the majority built in German-speaking countries or Scandinavia.
A growing proportion of buildings are being designed and built in Belgium using PIR insulation in the walls, floors and roof. Xtratherm insulation products are used in Passive specifications for their superior performance backed by unrivalled technical support for the designer and builder. Danny Kearney, Xtratherm’s Group Technical Manager says: “Xtratherm is at the forefront of initiatives to build low energy and zero carbon homes. Our involvement with Passivhaus is another example of our commitment to work with the leading experts in Europe to develop better insulation practices and products”.
