Trussed rafters have long been the construction method of choice for the UK and Irish domestic roofing market. When it comes to more challeng-ing roof construction, the MiTek design software enables innovative design solutions to be created, as this project illustrates.
In September 2012, a Latvian based MiTek customer completed the con-struction of this Lithuanian equine training arena in the village of Žalktine. The roof construction, comprising of large curved trussed rafters, spans an impressive diameter of 42 meters. Designed by an independent design and engineering company using MiTek software, the project is a good example of the sort of large span trussed rafter projects that are possible.
Whilst the main focus for UK and Irish trussed rafter manufacturers re-mains the domestic roofing market, the design expertise and manufactur-ing equipment required for large span commercial trusses is present in the market place.
