More than 60 housing association projects that have changed people’s lives are in the running for the National Housing Federation’s Community Impact Awards.
The Community Impact Awards celebrate the difference that England’s housing associations make through creating opportunities and bringing local communities together. Almost 180 entries were received across four categories: Better neighbourhoods; Greener living; Health and wellbeing, and Investing in people.
A panel of independent judges has been scrutinising the submissions from England’s housing associations since the awards closed to entries at the end of February. The shortlist has been finalised, with regional winners to be announced at five events taking place in Birmingham, Bristol, London, Manchester and York.
A national judging day will be held during May, with the five national category winners and the overall Community Impact Award winner to be announced at the national finals in central London on 12 June 2014.
David Orr, chief executive of the National Housing Federation, says: “Every day housing associations throughout England make a huge difference to people’s lives and their communities. The National Housing Federation’s Community Impact Awards showcase this work at its very best.
“We’ve had some fantastic submissions through for this year’s awards and the judges have had a tough job to select the shortlist. The quality of entries we received is a clear indication of the strength of housing associations and the positive impact of their work in our communities every single day.
“The projects that now go through to our five local awards ceremonies should feel very proud indeed – it is no small feat to have made it this far. It’ll be all eyes on Birmingham, Bristol, London, Manchester and York now to see who goes through to the finals.”
