Wellingborough welcomes 31 new homes

Over 30 new affordable homes are now complete and set to be allocated to local residents in Wellingborough thanks to a partnership scheme between Westleigh Partnership Homes and Derwent Living Ltd.

The former allotment site on Senwick Rd, not used since the early 1960s, has been transformed into a new affordable housing development of 31 homes. Built by Westleigh Partnership Homes and funded through investment from Derwent Living Ltd and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) housing programme, the new development will provide local people with high quality affordable living.

Located on the outskirts of the popular market town, the scheme consists of 25 homes for affordable rent and six available for shared ownership.

Samantha Veal, Assistant Director of Development at Derwent Living, comments: “It is wonderful to see the transformation from a disused and overgrown allotment site to great housing for the people of Wellingborough. The development marks Derwent Living’s second scheme in Wellingborough, an area in which we hope to invest much more in the future.”

Gary Turner, Head of Investment and Partnerships at Westleigh, comments: “The completion at Senwick Road demonstrates just how important partnership schemes are and what they can achieved by turning disused land into much-needed affordable housing.

"Senwick Road is one of several sites we have been involved with in Wellingborough and we are committed to continuing our work in the area. We are delighted to have once again worked with Derwent Living and the local authorities and look forward to seeing the development thrive into a new community.”

Derwent Living is a ‘profit for social purpose’ organisation providing affordable housing to suit a range of lifestyles. Formed in 1964, Derwent Living manages more than 15,000 properties in the Midlands, South Yorkshire and the South East.

Westleigh Partnership Homes are now part of the Homes & Communities Agency Delivery Partner Panel on both the Midlands and Northern lots and work closely together with housing associations to build affordable new homes throughout the East Midlands, South Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire.
