In areas of high traffic such as hospitals, it is essential to provide exceptional door protection, and it’s not just about aesthetics, safety and cost are also huge advantages.
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Trust has seen these advantages first hand and whenever door or wall protection is cited for a new or retro-fit project, they immediately turn to leading manufacturer Intastop.
Intastop, established for over 20 years, has gained a reputation for being a leading innovator in the areas of door and wall protection for the healthcare and anti-ligature markets. Its brief from Doncaster Royal Infirmary was to provide protective impact wrapping to existing and new doors as part of a refurbishment programme in the hospital’s medical imaging department.
Sarah Barsby, Marketing Director for Intastop Ltd commented: “We were delighted to win another contract with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Trust, which we feel is a true testament to the quality and integrity of our products and service.”
The requirement was to wrap each door entirely in the PVC-u cladding in a particular grey colour to match existing doors within the department.
The refurbishment was commissioned to provide space for two new medical imaging machines to be installed. One was a DSA room which is used for taking images of arteries, veins and organs in the body using complex x-ray type equipment and is near theatre standard as procedures are carried out at the same time. The SPECT/CT Room combines a CT scanner and a Gamma Camera and combined they provide more detailed information on specific areas of the body.
Sarah continued: “As the doors were in areas of heavy traffic they needed to be tremendously hard wearing and several were also in clinical areas which necessitated the need for easy cleaning, our Impact Protection Sheet, which is also Class O fire rated, was particularly suited to this job.”
Paul McGuinness architectural project officer for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals commented: “The contractors working on the refurbishment had used an alternative product to provide protection to our doors in this high traffic, medical area.
“However, we were disappointed with the quality of this product and requested that our doors were wrapped in the product provided by local family firm, Intastop. We have commissioned products from its range in previous projects and have always been entirely happy with the quality, service and professionalism of the products and the team. Once again, we have been delighted with the service both prior to, during and after production and installation.”
