AKW, the UK’s leading manufacturer of inclusive bathrooms has launched iCare – the world’s first Bluetooth enabled smart electric shower.
Additional safety features, including thermostatically controlled water temperature, along with sleek rounded corners and a sensory user interface make iCare the unrivalled solution for households with varying living requirements, providing a seamless mix of safety, style and smart technology.
With smart features, iCare is a stylish addition to any bathroom, as well as an ideal choice for accessible or adapted living. This sophisticated yet simple to use, BEAB Care approved shower gives the user or a carer the additional capability to operate it fully via a wireless remote control or smartphone app. With the ability to memorise the last user’s settings, the iCare can also be turned on and the temperature and flow rate adjusted at the desired levels before entering the shower. A ‘Delayed’ mode also allows the shower to be turned off with the remote whilst inhibiting a manual restart at the main shower unit for two minutes.
The RNIB accredited iCare also includes audible temperature and flow control indicators for those with visual impairments, with built-in volume adjustment and integrated tones for different functions. The shower’s unique sensor user interface has a simple layout, with LED lighting and large, tactile buttons, which feature raised high contrast lettering and symbols that make controls easy to identify.
With three flow settings, the iCare also includes an eco-flow option for optimum water usage and a phased shutdown feature, which ensures that no stagnant water is left in the unit. Its thermostatic temperature control includes 10 settings which includes an ‘over-temperature’ control and an auto-shut down feature which will automatically shutdown the unit if it has been running uninterrupted for 30 minutes, for additional safety and prolonged unit life.
With a smooth surface, the iCare is easy to clean, whilst the stylish minimalist design of this sleek and modern shower is also reflected in its accessories. These include a one metre, 150kg load bearing riser rail for additional stability and height range, a 2m length hose to enable carers to easily aid seated users, as well as a bracket for easy wall mounting of the shower head, ideal for seated showers. The iCare is available in either a while or silver colour, with an anti-glare matte finish that’s suitable for those with visual impairments.
iCare has been designed to be suitable for all styles of bathroom, making installation fast, simple and straightforward. Able to cover almost every manufacturers’ model, the iCare is able to hide the footprint of the previous shower whilst reducing, or in some cases eliminating, the requirement of any extra works or tiling.
iCare is the first of three new electric showers from AKW’s iShower range, which will be introduced this year.
