Balfour Beatty has recently installed a sculpture of the Greek God Atlantes on the £60m Sixty London commercial scheme for AXA Real Estate.
A key component of the project is the rebuilding of the gatehouse at the south west corner of Farringdon Street and Holborn Viaduct junction to its original Victorian design using traditional materials.
The stone detailing has been reproduced following extensive research in order to match as closely as possible the façade of the original building. The sculpture was carved from Portland stone.
The new gate house will complete the existing set of structures that were originally erected on the four corners of the viaduct as a grand gesture during the Victorian era.
The project is scheduled for completion this summer.
