Designer studio Jackdaw has recently created stunning designs for the women’s washrooms at the global marketing and technology agency Digitas LBi, London.
Using Younique by Formica Group custom laminate service, Jackdaw in collaboration with Digitas LBi employees created ‘riot girl’ bespoke Formica High Pressure Laminate (HPL) cubicles.
Jackdaw’s co-founder, Pippanella Roberts, explains: “We followed the Digitas LBi employees’ design brief which required washrooms that were not designed in a cliché ‘girly’ way, but that recalled ideas of strong, powerful women – hence the idea of ‘riot girls’. The route we took was to find classic movies with great female lead characters, and using the film posters with great artwork and graphics as a central element of our design.”
“We decided that the best location to use the movie posters was on the cubicle doors as these had the largest surface area in the washroom. Initially we intended to paint replicas of the posters onto the doors but as this is a high traffic area, we needed a resistant and durable product. We used the Younique service before in our project for Mother London, and decided it was the best choice for this project as well”. Formica HPL is very versatile and is popular in washroom environments. Hard wearing and resistant to humidity, it is the ideal material to use in high traffic areas, creating hygienic and practical surfaces that are durable, and easy to clean and maintain.
