McCaul Developments has made its first move into the Manchester City Centre market with the unveiling of a prestigious housing development – ‘The Point’ - at the New Islington regeneration scheme.
The family-owned business, based in Astley, has revealed that Phase One of the development, which includes 23 apartments and twelve canal houses, will be ready for release in September 2013.
McCauls have recently received planning permission for Phase Two of the £16m scheme involving a further 81 units, and have further development plans for in and around Manchester and the North West.
Prices for The Point apartments start from £112,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and McCauls has secured approval for the government-backed ‘Help to Buy’ scheme. Prospective buyers may be eligible to apply for the scheme, which enables first-time buyers and existing homeowners to buy a property with a five per cent deposit and up to a 20 per cent equity loan.
McCauls bought The Point from Urban Splash in 2012. The development, which was designed by renowned architect, and Chairman of the Civic Trust Awards, David Prichard and his team at Metropolitan Workshop, is in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) through the Get Britain Building Scheme.
Sean McCaul, Director at McCauls, said: “The development will provide contemporary and high spec homes in what is quickly becoming one of the most distinctive and diverse neighbourhoods in Manchester. Furthermore we are delighted to have received Help to Buy approval for The Point. The new government scheme will provide a much-needed shot in the arm for the house building sector and offers an excellent incentive for people to get onto and move up the property ladder.”
New Islington is a fantastic scheme in a stunning waterside location, which will appeal to young professionals, couples and families looking for a village-like community so close to the city centre.
The luxury properties feature many unique designs and all are spacious with a selected few having roof top gardens overlooking the city and the new marina. All of the apartments and houses have larger than average kitchens and bathrooms and plenty of storage and light.
Tony McCaul, also Director at McCauls said: “New Islington is finally coming of age with the new school opening in September of this year, the opening of Cotton Fields park and marina, the new bridge and also the exciting redevelopment of the Central Retail Park in Great Ancoats Street which will be a major shopping and cinema complex. It all makes for a great place to live and McCauls quality development at The Point will provide high quality homes for the new residents of New Islington.”
HCA Executive Director for the North West, Deborah McLaughlin said: “The Manchester city fringe area is changing rapidly and it’s fantastic to see high quality housing of this standard being built in New Islington.
“The Point is yet another great example of how the HCA’s investment via the Get Britain Building Initiative and Help to Buy programme is helping to unlock much needed new homes here in 2013.”
Ged McPartin, Co-owner of Curtis & Bains – the sales and letting agents managing the selling of The Point apartments, said: “We are delighted to be exclusive partners with McCauls on Manchester’s most exciting urban development. The Point is a stylish, unique apartment and housing complex, which strives to bring village life to urban living. There are few places in Manchester you can live where you can enjoy rooftop gardens and a beautiful marina, with only a five-minute stroll into the city centre.
“This development has been highly anticipated and much talked about in and around Manchester, which is reflected in the high level of sales already, before the development is even complete.”
The McCaul name first entered the property development market in 1955 when Joe and Jack McCaul joined forces with Eric Ashton to form Ashton and McCaul. The family name was continued by Joe’s three sons, Tony, Martin and Sean who together have more than 80 years of experience in business and decided to come together and build on the McCaul reputation of building quality homes and improving local communities.
McCauls has a number of developments in the pipeline including housing developments in Astley, Manchester and St Helens.
