Robertson, the infrastructure, support services and construction group is in top gear after winning a contract to convert the former Boots distribution warehouse in the North West of England, into a new Volkswagen Motor Dealership.
The company, which recently opened an office in Manchester, has been appointed by Inchcape Estates Limited to carry out the £3.9million project, just off Sealand Road in Chester.
Robertson will begin demolishing the existing offices and part of the warehouse unit at the end of the month. The building will then be extended, re-clad and fitted out to form a new Volkswagen Showroom and Workshop together with new body-shop repairs for brands such as VW, Audi, Mercedes Benz and Landrover.
Inchcape are relocating their current dealership on Sealand Road to the four acre site in order to develop the brand into a Metro regional centre which offers a showroom with 17 new models on display and a service workshop with 23 service bays including two MOT test lanes.
The car park to the rear of the building will be extended and a new road will also form a new access point from Sealand Road. This will also allow room for more than 100 used cars to be displayed.
Robertson Regional Managing Director, Andy McLeod, said: “Our track record in delivering leading edge projects has resulted in this contract win. We have successfully completed a number of projects for Inchcape in the North East of England and are looking forward to successfully delivering a project for them in the North West.”
Work is due to be complete in early summer 2013. Since opening an office at Oldham Broadway Business Park by Junction 21 off Manchester’s M60 arterial motorway, the North West team have started construction work on a £9.4million Community Hospital at Cockermouth and a £4.2million Health Centre at Cleator Moor.
Tenders are also under consideration in the retail, health, heritage and university sectors with likely work also in the education and car retail sectors.
