A site which was once home to the Glasgow Rangers football supporters club in Corby is being given a new lease of life by being transformed into 24 new affordable homes.
Work is well underway on-site to build the properties. The scheme is being developed by Midlands’s house builder Westleigh in partnership with Housing Association Riverside and Corby Borough Council.
The former club, which has now been demolished in Rockingham Road, had become derelict following its closure in February 2013. The club was forced to close its doors due dwindling members and on-going financial struggles.
Westleigh is set to build 24 affordable properties at the site. Fifteen of the homes will be available for affordable rent by Housing Association Riverside, including a mixture of six one-bedroom and two two-bedroom apartments as well as seven two-bedroom homes. Nine of the properties will be available for shared ownership. The shared ownership scheme is again being offered by Housing Association Riverside and will allow for residents to buy a share of their home and pay rent on the rest.
Funding for the project has been provided by Housing Association Riverside and the Homes and Communities Agency. Work on-site commenced in January and is expected to take until December to complete.

Westleigh is part of the Homes & Communities Agency Delivery Partner Panel on both the Midlands and Northern lots and works closely together with housing associations to build affordable new homes throughout the East and West Midlands, South Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire.
