Daikin Europe has launched a Low Temperature (LT) Hydrobox for the latest generation of the VRV heat pump, which offers all the benefits of air-to-air VRV technology, plus the ability to integrate an air-to-water system to provide highly efficient space heating and cooling.
The LT Hydrobox indoor unit (HXY-A) is designed specifically to work with VRV IV, the only VRV system on the market today capable of automatically adjusting output in response to changes in external temperatures.
Daikin products are distributed in the UK by Daikin Airconditioning UK Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daikin Europe NV, and Space Airconditioning plc, the largest independent Daikin distributor.
VRV IV already delivers highly efficient climate control. Now, with the launch of the new LT Hydrobox, the system offers the option of highly efficient air-to-water heating and/or cooling in small commercial buildings, even for rooms with high ceilings and glass facades, such as reception areas.
The LT Hydrobox delivers water from 5°C to 45°C, without the need for a back-up electric heater, for use in underfloor heating, air handling units, low temperature radiators or fan convector units, making it ideal for both new build and refurbishment projects. It has a super-wide operating range, from -20°C to +43°C ambient outdoor temperature, making it suitable for all European countries.
The wall hung Hydrobox is stylish and compact, with front access and reduced clearances making it easier to install, commission and maintain. System design is faster and installation is simplified as all the water-side components are fully integrated in the Hydrobox, which also gives direct control over the hot water temperature.
VRV IV – setting the innovation standard
Daikin’s VRV IV heat pump achieves a new benchmark for seasonal efficiency, featuring major enhancements to the already industry-leading VRV solution. It has three revolutionary innovations: variable refrigerant temperature, continuous heating during defrost and the VRV configurator for simplified commissioning and servicing.
Variable refrigerant temperature technology allows installers to customise the system using a choice of presets. In automatic mode, the system is configured for high efficiency levels throughout the year, while allowing rapid response on the hottest days, thereby ensuring comfort at all times. This technology is capable of delivering a 28% increase in seasonal efficiency compared with the VRV III Heat Pump, because the system continually adjusts the refrigerant temperature according to the total required capacity and external temperatures.
Continuous heating during defrost sets a new standard in comfort, making VRV IV one of the best renewable heating systems available. Continuous heating means the heat pump continues to provide heating, even when in defrost mode.
The new VRV configurator completes the trio of innovations, offering an advanced software solution that simplifies commissioning and servicing. The software allows the remote configuration of settings, which can be used at multiple sites, so less time is required on the roof, commissioning the outdoor units. Ongoing maintenance is easier too, thanks to a graphical interface that allows engineers to evaluate operational data and errors.
