Sustainability experts join the debate at Ecobuild India

The inaugural Ecobuild India, one of the largest sustainability exhibition and conference in the built environment will feature more than 100 sustainability experts as part of its comprehensive conference programme, currently taking place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

This show builds on the anchor event held in London in March which brought together 45,000 design and construction industry professionals.

The thought provoking conference programme will cover pressing sustainability agendas from climate change to greening our cities to creating green homes and offices and will be a source of inspiration, innovation and education for the built environment community.

Ecobuild India provides an ideal platform for government officials, manufacturers, industrial users, consultants, architects and industry experts to meet and develop solutions to the demanding challenges of the sustainable built environment.

Headlining the conference programme is Make Architects founder Ken Shuttleworth, who will give both the keynote address and speak at “The future of design and the Role of Architects-Designing buildings for the next century” session on April 17.

Shuttleworth is one of the world’s leading architects, who has been involved in a number of the world most innovative building projects including London’s iconic Gherkin. He launched Make in 2004.

Ken Shuttleworth of Make Architects added: “We identified India as a place we’d like to work around five years ago; the economy was continuing to grow – in stark comparison to the bulk of the UK and there is the convenience of a common language and regulations based on UK statute. There are so many opportunities, not just in terms of projects to be won, but also lessons to learn. We don’t want to impose our own methodology, we want to learn from India too, to combine our technological knowledge with Indian culture and design.”

Other speakers include Karan Grover, Founder Karan Grover and Associates;  Mili Majumdar, Director, Sustainable Habitat Division TERI; Yatin Pandya Founder, Footprints E.A.R.T.H. (Environment Architecture Research Technology Housing); Dr. Sandeep Garg, Programme Specialist (Energy & Environment) United Nations Development Programme and Chandrashekar Hariharan, CEO, Biodiversity Conservation India.

Eliane van Doorn, International Director UBM Built Environment, which runs the Ecobuild events portfolio which also includes exhibitions in the UK, China, India and Southeast Asia , said: “Ecobuild India provides an ideal springboard for industry players to take advantage of opportunities to initiate new business, and learn from the first-hand experiences of industry experts and top decision makers.”

Furthermore, the Ecobuild Arena featuring a host of sustainable building products and technologies including efficient lighting, water conservation systems, insulation products among others would demonstrate the power of sustainable materials and technologies.

The attractions include experience zones offering live demonstration and comparative evaluations of products and technologies , providing an enlivening and exhilarating constructive experience covering eco-friendly approaches in the areas of water conservation, waste treatment, lighting options, green landscaping, alternative building materials and technology.

Come, witness Ecobuild India 2013 hosted by UBM India. Be at the heart of cutting edge debates, get informed and educated on sustainable materials and technologies and meet old and new contacts and partners.
